A group under the auspices of Concerned APC foundation members has made real its threat to occupy the Kwara State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), by organising an all night sit out, according to checks by this medium.
The group which started the occupation of the Secretariat at exactly 11am on Saturday, 20th 2018 through a press conference where it demanded the reversal of the candidates selection demanding at least 50 percent slot be ceded to foundation members.
Addressing newsmen, the leader of the group, Hon. Isiaka Toyin Wara from ilorin west local government area of the State, decried the sidelining of foundation members who suffered “unquantifiable abuse and torture in the hands of Dr. Bukola Saraki since his unfortunate entrance into our party in 2014, until few months ago, all in the love of the APC.
“We the foundation APC members who failed to exit the party when Dr. Bukola Saraki joined in 2014, were subjected to varying degrees of humiliation, torture and abandonment when the sojourn of the Sarakites lasted.
” We were undetered and trudged on hoping and praying that the occupation forces will go back to were they had came from, we endured the pains for almost 4 years before providence smiled on us.
“It is however sad that rather than celebrate the final freedom, we are presently under another set of colonisation, wherein new entrants into our party who was displaced by the readmittance of Dr. Bukola Saraki have come to usurp the entire space, thereby living us to gasp for breadth once again.
” Judging from the list of candidates submitted by our party for all the elective positions ranging from the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly, we only One House of Reps ticket, and two House of Assembly seats.
“None of the numerous qualified foundation members were found worthy of getting neither the National Assembly seats nor governorship, even the House of Assembly ticket was shared majorly amongst the PDP decampees” he stressed.
Reeling out the demands of the protesters, Hon. Wara demanded for at least 50 percent elective positions for its members. He said “We want 2 of the 3 available Senate seat to be ceded to us, 4 of the available 7 House of Representatives seats and 12 Houses of Assembly seats.
” We’ll not evacuate the Secretariat until Pres. Muhammadu Buhari, National Chairman of our party, Com. Adams Oshiomole, our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other well meaning lovers of our party who are ready to stand up for justice, equity and fairness, wades in and ensure we get our rightful place in the scheme of things in Kwara APC. We are ready to remain here as long as necessary, we won’t leave here until we get a valid and legally actionable duely signed document that’ll be binding on all stakeholders concerned” he threatened.
When this medium visited the Secretariat unannounced to ascertain the fulfilment of the sit out threat at exactly 11:30pm the protesters were seen comfortably seated chit-chating,
on a return by one of our correspondents at exactly 2:35am, the protesters were met leeping while seated on the Chair.
A similar return at exactly 6:45am this morning showed the protesters already awake looking worn out, while still remaining resolute to continue the “excruciating” exercise.
As at the time of filing this report, the protesters are still at the party head office, threatening never to evacuate.
