Com. Issa Aremu has decried the seeming lack of governmental presence in Kwara State, bemoaning the clear dirt of infrastructure and failure of government in meeting it’s basic responsibilities.
The Chieftain of the Nigerian Labour Congress who was addressing pressmen in ilorin on Sunday, says any state governor that can not pay the new minimum wage being proposed by the organised labour should resign from office.
He called on state governors to assist Buhari to quickly conclude the negotiations on the new minimum wage.
Comrade Aremu said “the only way to help improve the economy of a country is by paying the salaries of workers as at when due.
Comrade Aremu who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Kwara state dismiss rumour making the rounds that the party will not participate in the election next year, stressing that the party has submitted the list of its candidates to the electoral commission and has not contemplated changing it.
He however said the party is ready to support any progressive forces in the fight against bad governance and corruption in the state.
He said kwarans are being taken for a ride by the government who has turn the LGA to a mere parastatals of govt, Teachers salaries are not paid as at when due
He said ” if voted the governor of the state workers salaries will be top priority for me and i will ensure industries that are hitherto moribund will be brought back to life and the much maligned and neglected Kwara North will be given much attention” he promised
