Barring last meeting changes, the fallout of the Gubernatorial and National Assembly primaries in Kwara State is threatening to have it’s first biggest casualties in the Honourable minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alh. Lai Mohammed this medium has reliably gathered.
According to multiple sources who spoke with this medium last night, it was confirmed that there is a swelling list of aggrieved aspirants angling to give the leader of the party in the State (Lai Muh’d) a run for his money.
Prominent among the aspirants according to sources includes Prof. Shuiab Oba Abdulraheem, Alh. Yaman Abdullahi (both gubernatorial aspirants), Alh. Ismail Tijjani, Mr. Gbenle Adeyemi and Jimmy Idiagbon all House of Representatives aspirants for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun , Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti and Ilorin/South Federal constituencies respectively).
While most of the gubernatorial aspirants are said to have resigned to fate and ready to work with the party’s candidate, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, same cannot be said of the National Assembly and House of Assembly aspirants and candidates with complaints of continuous replacement of candidates rife.
A consensus across board especially amongst the aspirants that, the leader of the party is a major dramatis personae in the way the primaries turned out and the continuous “back door replacement of names of candidates”.
It was reliably gathered by this medium that while the rumoured replacement of Mr. Jimmy Idiagbon with Hon. Cook Olododo was said to have been met with little resistance from the aspirant’s camp, same cannot be said of Ismail Tijjani who is leaving nothing to chance towards ensuring his ticket isn’t taken away from him.
While the intervention of the State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), was according to multiple sources, ” the powerful push that ensured the Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero/Irepodun was the insistence of CAN that Gbenle Adeyemi as the only Christian amongst the National Assembly contingent of the APC.
“Now Gbenle Adeyemin have been handed the ticket as against the initial favoured candidate, Alh. Raheem Olawuyi Ajulo-Opin from Omu-Aran, Irepodun local government area of the Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the moves by some powerful forces allegedly led by Alh. Lai Mohammed on the move to take the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun ticket away from Ismail Tijjani who came first in the primaries for Gbenga power from Ifelodun who allegedly came a distant 7th.
“The major power bloc behind Gbenga power is the Minister for Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Ameachi who is said to be the political mentor and benefactor of Mr. Gbenga power.
“Ismail ijjani who is a long standing ally of President and the Northern power bloc of the APC has taken the matter up at the Presidency and with the interest shown by this major power bloc, the Minister needs to be careful else his job and continued leadership of APC in the State might be at stake.
“I can assure you 90% of the aggrieved aspirants haven’t forgiven the Minister’s role in the whole exercise, although they’ve all resigned to fate, they’re still angling out for payback” he stressed.
